Yellow Heart generally means friendship and warmth - affection with no romantic implication, which makes it the safest heart to send a friend.

It also acquired a very specific meaning on Snapchat, where it marked a mutual best friend, and users who came from that platform sometimes carry the association with them.

Visibility

Yellow has the highest luminance of the heart colours, which makes it the most visible against Discord's dark theme and one of the least visible against light.

That asymmetry matters in role colours and channel names more than in messages, where the emoji is drawn as artwork rather than tinted text.

In server configuration

It is a common colour-role option and appears in friendship and appreciation channel naming, where its non-romantic reading is the point.

It is also why the original five have stronger conventional meanings. They have been in use far longer, so the associations had time to settle.
