About this tool

Sound files must be small MP3 or OGG files.

How to use

1

Browse the list of popular sounds.

How the soundboard works

Soundboard sounds play into a voice channel for everyone connected, triggered from the panel while in the channel. Sounds are per-server, uploaded by anyone with Create Expressions, and use of them can be restricted with the Use Soundboard permission.

Clips are short - a few seconds - and small. The limit exists because a sound is downloaded by every listening client on first use, and long clips make that noticeable.

Using a server's sounds in other servers requires Nitro, in the same way custom emoji do. Sounds uploaded to a server are always usable by its own members regardless of subscription.

Moderating it

The soundboard is the one feature that interrupts a voice conversation without any text trace, which makes it a common abuse vector on open servers. Revoking Use Soundboard for @everyone and granting it to a trusted role solves the problem entirely.

Individual sounds can also be deleted by anyone with Manage Expressions, and it is worth reviewing what has been uploaded periodically - Create Expressions is granted more casually than people realise.

Making a good soundboard

Clean, short and loud meme clips work best. Keep a few universal ones (airhorn, bruh, oof) and a few server inside jokes. Compress each file for fast loading.
