Subscription state is invisible externally, but its effects are not. Nitro raises the message limit from 2000 to 4000 characters, allows animated avatars and profile banners, permits custom emoji and stickers across servers, raises the upload cap, and enables per-server profiles.

The upload limit is the one people notice most, since it governs whether a clip can be posted directly or has to go through a file host. It has changed several times, so the current figure is worth checking rather than assuming.

Boosting is separate from Nitro despite being bundled with some tiers. A boost is applied to one server and unlocks features for everyone in it; Nitro applies to your account and follows you everywhere.

Discord does not expose Nitro status on the public user object. The API returns username, avatar, banner, accent colour and public flags, and subscription state is not among them - it is billing information, and Discord treats it as private.

What is sometimes inferred instead are side effects: an animated avatar or a profile banner both require Nitro to set, so their presence is suggestive. But the inference is unreliable in both directions. A lapsed subscriber keeps a static fallback of their old avatar, and plenty of current subscribers never set either.

Any site claiming to check whether an arbitrary account has Nitro from an ID is guessing from those signals at best. Treat a definitive answer as a warning sign about the site rather than a useful result.

Nitro gift links follow a fixed shape on Discord's own domains. Anything on a lookalike domain is phishing, and the pattern is consistent enough to recognise: a free-Nitro offer, a domain that resembles Discord's but is not, and a login form.

Discord will never ask for your password or token to grant a gift, and no legitimate tool needs your token for anything. A site requesting a token to "check" or "claim" Nitro is attempting account theft - a token is full authentication with no second factor.

A gift code is tied to one of Discord's entitlement plans. Checking the endpoint reports whether the code exists and if it was already redeemed.
