Mocking SpongeBob Text Generator

The effect comes from a 2010s image macro and works by alternating capitalisation to suggest a mocking tone of voice. Two variants exist: strict alternation by position, and random per-character capitalisation.

Strict alternation is predictable and reproduces exactly, which matters if you want the same input to give the same output. Random gives a more uneven look but must be seeded to be reproducible - unseeded, the text changes on every keystroke as you type, which is a bug rather than a feature.

Non-letter characters are left alone in both modes, so spaces, digits and punctuation pass through and the alternation continues across them or resets, depending on implementation.

Unlike unicode font generators, this produces normal ASCII letters. That means it is searchable, screen-reader friendly and works in every field without restriction - it is the same letters with different capitalisation.

Discord lowercases text channel names, so the effect does not survive there. Everywhere else - messages, nicknames, voice channel names, role names - it renders exactly as typed.

The meme originates from a 2017 SpongeBob SquarePants episode where the character bent backwards to mock someone, captioned with alternating case. It became one of the most reused reaction formats online and remains widely recognized years later.

Alternating mode flips the case of every letter in a strict up-down pattern. Random mode rolls the case of each letter independently, which looks more organic and less mechanical. Try both to see which fits the joke you are making.
